The famous poet, Rumi penned “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.” Two years ago, I decided that I was going to take Rumi’s advice. After I graduated from college with a Pre-Med degree, I had a career as a sales and marketing account executive in ‘Corporate America’ for a medical diagnostic clinical and anatomic pathology laboratory when I decided that I wanted to live for me. I hung up my brief case, picked up my camera and haven’t looked back. It was time to pursue my passion—to fulfill my dream as a freelance photographer.
I was exposed, early in life, to the creative and performing arts and influenced by both of my parents. My dad is a drummer and hobbyist photographer; my mom sings and loves art. I have been playing the piano since age 5 and saxophone since age 9. I currently sing with a professional chorale in DC and have performed at venues like Carnegie Hall, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Lincoln Theatre and DAR Constitution Hall. These experiences have enhanced my ability to photograph performances in the areas of concerts, plays, musicals and the like. I was gifted my first camera (Polaroid) at age 10. I started noticing the details of everything around me...from cloud formations—to sunsets, the moon, the stars, birds taking flight, swaying tree limbs, the rips in waves...I was fascinated with nature. It was then that I began to develop my 'eye'. I was so excited in elementary school for ‘library day’ so I could check out National Geographic magazines. I remember thinking to myself, as a child, that it would be so cool to see my picture in the magazine!
My professionalism stems from my corporate sales background. I understand the importance of offering a quality product and service, as well as recognize the value in creating a positive customer experience. I approach each shoot as if it were my own and aim to ensure customer satisfaction. I enjoy photographing people candidly. My shooting style is a combination of both traditional and editorial. My pictures tell my stories. I look forward to telling YOUR stories by ...capturing 'Moments in Time".
Everywhere I go, my camera goes. I LOVE to travel the world and explore the ‘unbeaten’ path. I enjoy capturing people, food and culture, as well as landscapes & cityscapes to convey the ‘sense of place’. I am surrounded both by natural beauty and interesting people. I use my camera to document the world. I have visited Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Iceland, Brazil, Greece, Turkey, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Israel, Palestine, Belgium, Austria, Netherlands, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Cayman Islands and Bahamas.
